This aquarium has been using EI dosing for about 4 years and the fish are the same that have been in the tank the entire time. I recently removed all the gravel for a nice white color and more open space in the front. There are many plecos that will tear up most foreground plants, so for practical reasons, this design was used.
The aquarium is only 2 weeks old when these pictures where taken

PS, I use to live in Dubrovnik in 1979!
A lot has changed since, but I hope for the better at this point in the future for everyone.
Regards,
Tom Barr |

First of all, welcome to our little forum. We're honoured for having you here.
You're rigt a lot of changed since than, but the people are same.
How I understand the plants in tank are only 2 weeks there. Nice work. Microsorum is beautiful and I can't wait to see how this tank grow older, so I hope you'll post some pics eventualy. I just can't imagine tank of this size and amout of plants that are used to do it... Nice work again and hope to see more from you.
Edit: I just saw that this was the tank for some client, which explains the choice of plants. I also saw some of your close-up pictures and I say it lokks awesome.

Zdravo Tomo pobratime,

Thank you all, damn, you all know English too
I have very good memoeries of the Former Yugoslvia and I traveled around a lot, just not that much in the very northern area, from Split on up, I was very impressed with the people, and had a strong hatered of German tourist haha,
Well, we where mistaken for Germans, few had ever met an American before back in the 1970's!
The needle leaf is a nice plant. I've used it quite a bit in this aquarium from the start. I can always sell the large amounts produced from this aquarium also. This fish load in much larger than many think unless seen in person.
I know many of you are very good and skilled at aquascaping. I know some of my articles where translated into Slovenian, perhaps Serbian, so hopefully that helped make life easier managing the planted Aquariums.
I'd rather people focus more on CO2 and using less light, but most seem to pick up on nutrients and my name for some reason. Does not matter what I say and try sometimes, ahaha.
I have a lot of issues trying to get the client's to take care of the tank when I am not around. This is one of the more recent tanks I've redo for them.
Regards,
Tom Barr

Well clinets are clients and not like us aq lovers, they think that something like that can be beautifull without work.
Aquascapeing are still young here so don't take us wrong, we're still in learning phaze. Just like you many of us are just trying some new stuff and wait to see where it would leed us

I think I have seen a much more advanced approach and understanding to aquascaping in the Balkans. Octopus is really good, so are several other members.
I've seen the work.
I've also seen referencing to the Japanese gardens and the entries in the ADA contest.
I do not enter contest, I never have, nor will I ever be a judge!
I have viewed myself as aquarist and a lot goes along with that, not just photo shoots, Photoshop, a few fish added, plant layout. I could not judge them as aquarists without seeing the aquarium in person.
This aquarium has gone through several redesigns to keep it ever changing for the client.
This is at 6 months from new:
This was next with some rock:

This is when the roselines where still small:

Of course if you want a larger tank:

Sort of similar, based on low care type of plants, lots of driftwood, low light, but there's still a nice lawn of Downoi on the bottom of the 120 cm deep tank

Also, feel free to mention the challenges you have found getting things for the hobby there. I know that can be difficult, so ask any questions you might have. I am fairly good at working with folks have in their regions of the world to get something done they like and find manageable.
The USA had very ver little for a long time for aquarium plants, that has changed today, but the skills and DIY abilities I gained prior made this much easier.
As your group grows, you will all be able to help one another a lot more than you might realize.
1 Person has all the ferts or sediments, another might have a nice glass maker for custom aquariums, another might make cabinets for the group etc or another might be a really good photographer.

OMG, the last picture is really amasing, all i can do is this WOW here I can really see the true size of this tank, just unbelievable.
I also share that approach, photo is just one moment in time of aq development, rest of it is art.

I always thought about you as an aqua scientist - never as an artist and aquascaper. (Some crazy click in my head)
I read most of your articles but for some unknown reason never look for your aquascapes.
What a pleasant surprise for me...
Even more: astonishing!!!
Thanks, once more, for sharing this wildness with us....
